ONCE UPON A PENCIL
I'm pretty sure I picked up a pencil before I picked up a spoon. Drawing and creating a fun way to see things have always been as natural as breathing. When I got to kindergarten, I wondered why everyone wasn't drawing. While I had an inkling I'd like to get into people's heads, my Psychology degree from Georgetown would not turn out to be the gateway. After working on the I Go Pogo movie as a sculptor and animator, and storyboarding ID spots MTV, I went into graphic design and ultimately advertising. Getting into people's heads and knowing how to connect products or services with consumers was fun.
I've been a project manager and creative director since 1993, managing projects, writing copy, doing layout, design, storyboards, and supervising advertising which has translated into strategically targeted solutions, high-impact visuals, effective creative concepts and unique branding opportunities. I try to bring out the best in art directors, be it print campaigns, outdoor, interactive projects, marketing collateral, or collateral materials. For over 30 years, I've written copy and art directed work for clients in pharmaceuticals, packaging, consumer goods, fashion, finance and countless B2B categories. My illustrations have graced ads, web sites, storyboards, packaging, direct mail, books and countless other venues. I’ve even won several top awards from the New Jersey Ad Club. I work evenings and weekends at my craft - by day I’m a mild-mannered HR generalist. But once home, I jump into a phone booth and I’m designing and drawing once more. I hope these pages will help you discover how I can bring about the change you want to see in your business. Understanding is the start. Everything else is just art.
